I/ Definition
What is QVCT?
To understand what SQVCT is, let's first look back at its creator, theANACT...Don't run away, these acronyms are your friends and mean you no harm! ANACT stands for L'Agence Nationale pour l'Amélioration des Conditions de Travail (National Agency for the Improvement of Working Conditions), a public administrative body set up in 1973 under the aegis of the Ministry of Labour. Its role?
Quite simply, to design and disseminate methods for improving health and safety in the workplace! As for Qualité de Vie et des Conditions de Travail (Quality of Life and Working Conditions), it refers to a collective approach that can be led by a company, an association or even a public body (well, well, just like a OuiLive Challenge).
ANACT's social partners (employers' and workers' representatives, employers' associations and trade unions) recently added the term "working conditions" to the QWL title, to avoid any misunderstanding. Indeed, it is the improvement of work and working conditions that should be the focus of QWL initiatives.
Tempting and attractive, the introduction of massages and sports activities, the delivery of fruit and vegetables, or even the design and decoration of offices do not, however, lead to lasting improvements in the way we work, nor do they give meaning to our work. To be truly effective, the approach must be thorough!
II/ SQVCT objectives
To make this happen, you need to meet a number of well-defined objectives. The main one? To enable everyone to do their job in the best possible conditions, individually, and to collectively build a work organization that is favorable to people's health and productivity.
Once the overall objective of the QWL approach has been defined, what are the sub-objectives that organizations need to implement to achieve it?
- Give all employees the opportunity to express themselves and take action on their work.
- Learning to work better together.
- Enable employees to participate in the organization's development.
- Aim for an acceptable, sustainable development model.
These objectives have given rise to a dedicated week: Quality of Life and Working Conditions Week. A flagship event and HR highlight, it provides an opportunity to question and enhance the working environment.
It's the ideal time to reflect and exchange ideas on the best practices of today and tomorrow, as well as on the initiatives to be put in place to contribute to the well-being of our employees. QVCT Week will take place from June 19 to 23, 2023, and is entitled Joy Week. !
III/ Why organize a QVCT week?
Organizing a QWCW week is therefore an opportunity to dedicate some time in the life of the company to identifying and finding solutions to the difficulties encountered by employees, and this time is essential! Indeed, while 78% of HR managers identify QWL as a key issue in their company, only 47% of companies integrate it into their organization.
A pity, especially when we know that return on investment is increased , by 235% R.O.I, in companies that put QVCT at the heart of their corporate project (Opinion Way 2018)!
What initiatives are underway to promote SQVCT?
It's important to anticipate your Quality of Life and Working Conditions Week several months in advance, and that's why we're talking to you right now about initiatives you can put in place. Here are several examples of actions or measures you can take to improve QWLW in your company:
- Optimize the quality of your office space (create a rest area, fit out equipment to combat sedentary lifestyles, etc.).
- Organize activities that promote well-being (massages, yoga, sophrology, various sports courses, training workshops, conferences on employee well-being, etc.).
- Rewarding performance at an Employee Day
- Team-building physical activity
- Set up awareness-raising workshops and solidarity initiatives
- Take part in the next Challenge SQVCT 2023 organized by OuiLive in partnership with Café Joyeux!
IV/ Employer's obligations
Until recently, the legal framework for quality of working life (QWL) focused on preventing psychosocial risks (PSR), also known as occupational hazards. Employers and HR functions were required to implement actions to preserve physical and mental health or prevent safety at work.
Then came the Accords Nationaux Interprofessionnels (ANI - National Interprofessional Agreements), which provided a framework for employers' obligations relating to QWL.It was the ANI of June 19, 2013, entitled "Towards a policy of improving Quality of Life at Work (QWL) and Professional Equality" that QWL was truly defined. Companies are strongly encouraged to pursue QWL policies promoting better working conditions for employees.
How to implement QHCT in your organization?
Before embarking on a QWC approach, it is advisable to take stock of the situation within your company. Several criteria can be used, notably based on the 3 indicators taken into account by ANACT:
- Turnover: a company's rate of staff turnover. If it's low, it's certainly an indicator of a good quality of life for employees.
- Absenteeism rate: as with turnover, the lower the rate, the better the quality of life!
- Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS): a key indicator of employee commitment to the workplace. Derived from NPS, which measures customer satisfaction, it enables you to estimate the likelihood of your employees recommending your company.
Once you've carried out an employee needs assessment, you can take action for employee well-being and implement a consistent QWL approach within your organization.
- Prioritize issues and establish actions: is the priority on professional equality? Social climate? Management?
- Depending on the issues identified, adopt actions that are consistent with them: awareness and promotion campaigns, competitions to encourage initiatives, focus groups, challenges to improve corporate culture or personal development programs...
- Monitoring and steering the approach : once these actions have been implemented, it is essential to evaluate the results obtained and ensure that the actions are sustained over time.
- Coat it all with a, participation in the next Challenge SQVCT 2023 (yes, we're repeating ourselves, but it's for a good cause) and you're all set!
